Photoshop was developed in 1987 by American brothers Thomas and John Noel, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1988. Raster Based Software
Adobe Photoshop is actually a raster based software. Raster graphics, also known as bitmap graphics, consist of a grid of individual pixels, each with its own color or shade. In Photoshop, you work with images as collections of these individual pixels. This is in contrast to vector graphics software, which uses mathematical equations to define shapes and lines, allowing scalability without loss of quality.
